# API Key

### API Key

An API key is required to send requests to the ChangeUp API. Once you obtain this key, you will need to place it in the site preferences for the site the cartridge is being installed for.

1. Navigate to **Merchant Tools > Site Preferences > Custom Preferences > ChangeUp**
2. Enter the API key in the field next to **ChangeUp API Key**
3. Click **Save**.
